Where are the bloody updates?

This blog is gathering dust, but trust me, it's not half as neglected as other. I've been juggling job searching, artwork, YOA scripts, Ben Chatham spoofs and watching the new series (which I hope everyone noticed ripped off my work to a truly astonishing degree... again).

So... status report, helmsman.

C-Day - done

The Apocalypse - episode one finished, work on remainder done. Crucially, the last episode was lost between data streams when it was halfway finished, and having to start from scratch killed the mood somewhat. Yes, I know, hahah, Tenth Planet 4 is cursed, get over it!

Warhead of the Daleks - done

The Twin Dilemma - done

Attack of the Cybermen - episode one finished, episode two begun, work on remainder underway. Not my department, but trust me, it will be worth the wait. Even if it's never finished.

Vengeance on Varos - plotted out, no episodes finished. Not my department, but TWICE as fecking disturbing as I thought it would be.

Hex - No idea.

The Enemy Within - done. Of course, RTD then had to gangrape it...

Bid Time Return - despite the unjust antipathy of Outpost Gallifrey towards Movellans, this is all plotted out and huge, HUGE chunks written. I just keep finding better things to do...

SlipBack - cancelled. Miles had too little enthusiasm, I had too much. These things happen.

To Catch A Thief - episode one almost finished. The rest of the story... well, who knows? Historicals are hard to write for a reason, people, and the quality of what you've got should shut you up.

The Chase of Pathos - well, trying to write a topical historical with Mel is even harder...

Twilight of the Living - cancelled. To be brutally honest, you didn't miss much.

The Riddle of the Styx - no idea.

Only A Matter of Time - thought about. A last minute replacement it is in fact four one-episode stories with a linked theme of the Doctor and Peri bouncing through Mondasian History at the Dawn of the Cybermen. Yeah, so it spoils the twist, this ain't going to be written any time soon, and it needs The Apocalypse to be finished before I can start on the latter episodes.
Into the Fire: with twelve hours before the end of the world, the Doctor and Peri are trapped on a world gone mad as everyone faces the end in different ways.
Rust Never Sleeps: the TARDIS encounters the survivors in their underground cavern and what life has become
Iron Legion: An experimental convert goes Frankenstien crazy
Soul's End: Dega releases the Cybermen onto Mondas as history ends.

Legacy of the Borad - still on the cards, but now the author has SEEN the genuine article... well... you can imagine...

The Song of the Space Whale - episodes one and two done, episode three planned out. It'll mean reading Turlough and the Earthlink Dilemma. You see the strain I have to go through

In The Hollows of Time - no idea at all. Cam's secretive, can you tell?

The End of the Road - done. Doesn't anyone notice?

Arcade Games - pretty much gone the way of the original, though I did map out some kickass ideas to improve the plot. Could go either way, people.

and, just to annoy you, some stories from the alt Season 23 that will never be written

Invasion from Beyond - Mel, the Brigadier, UNIT, some other stuff!

Tomb of the Daleks - the Dalek/Movellan war heats up, Davros isn't as dead as we thought, and Mel takes a trip in the TARDIS

Yellow Fever And How To Cure It - Miles Ried, imagination is no obstacle...

MindWarp - "so dark you need a fucking flashlight" as Jared daintily put it, this story makes a lot more sense and God DAMN It you will wish it didn't. Chris Boucher would try and cheer this up...

Of course, I did a bit of Torchwood. But it's not enough. It's never enough.

Ooh, a nice courtesy update. I'd assumed that there wasn't any real S23 stuff at all.. though I did start writing some actual script for the Mindwarp re-write from your synopsis. I hit a bit of a wall, though... I'm not entirely sure how to write for Sil. All I'm doing is having him childishly demand things while yelling with Yoda's grammar. Given his immense popularity I gather there's a lot more to the character than that, so any tips for writing for him would be great. (Especially since I'm also meant to do Varos eventually)

Attack has been in a mire for quite a while, though - as before it's just that Episode 2 is a complete mess and I don't even know where the cliffhanger's going. I've been trying to get back into it for a while - as soon as I've done the linking scenes I need for part 2 to make any sort of sense I'll send it to you, and you can tell me what sucks and what doesn't.

TCaT.. well, no problems as such, just I lost a fair bit of it from that flash-drive incident which is always dispiriting, but also I think I feel a little guilty when working on it because it's so much fun compared to the others.

You left out Androgum Inheritance, but I don't blame you. A couple of scraps from Part One and that's it.

I do get surprised at all the odd new stories that keep appearing on this blog, though... I'm not sure if you ever mentioned Arcade Games before...

Just incase anyone from OG is reading...

Just plots I thought about on the way home if I had nothing to read...

Hmmm. I'll scan Sil's trial transcript from Doctor Who and the Monsters, killingly funny, and also gives a lot of characterization to him AND explains what happened to Peri.

OK. Whatever you want, dude, I don't rush a genius...

Know where you're coming from, man.

Don't let that bother you. Would it have bothered Rob Holmes?

Oh yeah... totally forgot that one...

It's the next story after End of the Road, based on The Nightmare Fair, the scripted, acted, rehearsed but unfilmed opener to Season 23 with the Celestial Toymaker. Trouble is Eric Saward helped out with the writing, so the Doctor spends 80% of the story locked in a cell while Peri runs around corridors and lots of pointless Varos-style boobytraps go off before it ends.

So, I was gonna fix that, but then I lost my copy of script, found it again, but lost my enthusiasm. It was planned to be a spooky, dream like story, more Donnie Darko than the Celestial Toymaker.

Que sera sera.

I thought that might have been it.

There's too much gold on this site for the link NOT to be spread around!

Sounds good.

...I was about to say "Maybe on B7", but then I remembered the scripts he did actually write for B7. So no.

Yeah, I thought that would be it... did they really get to rehearsal stage on that one?

Trouble is Eric Saward helped out with the writing, so the Doctor spends 80% of the story locked in a cell while Peri runs around corridors and lots of pointless Varos-style boobytraps go off before it ends.

Ack! I'd have thought that Graham Williams would have countered that...

And why is it that Pip 'n Jane are mysterious invulnerable to Saward's efforts of making the Doctor completely useless? I mean, he still mightn't do too much but in Mark of the Rani he's actually leaves the TARDIS right at the start..

Oh, and I should add that I really do like The End of the Road - I'm not sure if I ever mentioned it before, but I had noticed that it seemed to be completely ignored when it went up on OG all that time ago. Which was a bit eyebrow-raising with all of the great black humour in the story..

I suspect it mightn't have been received as well as Twin Dilemna due to Revelation's over-rated status in fandom.

Perceptive as ever...

I'd put it in my sig. if I could...

Sounds good.
Mind you, Charles Daniels is always good to get characterization... more or less.

Exactly!

Yeah, I thought that would be it... did they really get to rehearsal stage on that one?
With Michael Gough, Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant, yeah. Maybe not rehearsal, but a read through at least.

Trouble is Eric Saward helped out with the writing, so the Doctor spends 80% of the story locked in a cell while Peri runs around corridors and lots of pointless Varos-style boobytraps go off before it ends.

He rather foolishly thought Eric knew what he was doing, and focussed more on the dialogue (which, admittedly is gold and shows that Douglas Adams wasn't entirely the cause of City of Death being so great).

Suffice it to say, the Sixth Doctor and Peri are the nicest you'll see them.

And why is it that Pip 'n Jane are mysterious invulnerable to Saward's efforts of making the Doctor completely useless?
Saward hated their guts and refused to be involved in their scripts, AFAICT.

I mean, he still mightn't do too much but in Mark of the Rani he's actually leaves the TARDIS right at the start..
Just proves that whatever else said about them, PJB had their hearts in the right places. Trouble was, it was right next to the thesaurus...

Maybe once or twice. ;)

but I had noticed that it seemed to be completely ignored when it went up on OG all that time ago.
Suppose it must have been.

Still, you get used to that.

Or maybe the fact it was full length scripts put them off. Maybe they prefer the bite sized chunks of Chathamy goodness?

...

Brain bleach needed. Off to the other blog.

Awesome! Finally cutting through to the brazilian spambot market

Did you like that bit where the TARDIS crashed in Attack, senhor?

Youth of Australia said...

How could he not?

I was pissing about with my other websites, and tried to compile your genius without having to wade through the depths of the blog.

Part One

Part Two is still under progress, though...

Ooh, quite nice... were 'If I Had Written 1-8 all taken?'

But looking at what you have for Part 2... are you working off an earlier draft? Because I swear I changed it so Peri didn't go in the TARDIS, and the Proser-Controller scene should be cut.

I assume so...

Well, according to my email search thing, that's the last Attack material you sent till part three.

I admit I was going to tinker slightly with the Proser-scene, but it can be cut if you want.
